If you have passed all three parts of the Special Enrollment Examination, you are ready to apply for enrollment. Complete the Pay.gov Form 23 enrolled agent application and pay $140. If you pass, the score report will show a passing designation. All score values above passing indicate that a candidate is qualified — not how qualified. You will also receive diagnostic information which may indicate areas of weakness in your performance where you may need continuing education. If you are wearing eyeglasses you will be required to remove them for visual inspection to ensure they don’t contain a recording device.

You may electronically apply for enrollment and make secure payment of the $140 enrollment fee at Pay.gov. If you fail an exam part, you must allow 24 hours before scheduling another appointment for that enrolled agent exam same part. However, you can schedule an appointment for a different exam part without waiting 24 hours. The actual seat time is 4 hours to allow for a tutorial, survey, and one scheduled 15-minute break.

  • The results are given by calculating the number of questions answered correctly from the total number of questions given.
  • Should the container not meet the requirements outlined, the candidate will be required to put it in their locker and will not be allowed to take it into the test room.

The pilot is expected to launch near the beginning of February 2025 and retained earnings last for about two months. The pilot may end earlier if the targeted number of pilot exams is reached. Make sure that you qualify to take the exam before scheduling and paying a fee.

How Much Does It Cost To Take the Enrolled Agent Exam?

The Enrolled Agent exam is taken by candidates who wish to become Enrolled Agents. Enrolled agents represent U.S. taxpayers before the IRS. Water is allowed in the testing room but it must be in a clear or transparent container with a lid or cap. All labels must be removed, and the container will be inspected for notes or other prohibited test aids.
